| Why We Do It |
|
Anyone with money can buy a bunch of recording equipment. But it's engineering talent, experience, and people skills that gets the magic of the performance on disc, every time.
Live recording is the best way to truly capture the energy and the magic moments of your live show. It only happens once, and may never happen in a sterile, structured recording studio environment.
All the staff at David Gerald Enterprises are recording musicians, and are passionate about live sound recording. Trust us to capture what you bring live and make it sound even better when played back. |

How Much It Costs
$100.00 per song Broke Rock/Blues Band Program
Currently we only offer our $100.00 per song Broke Rock/Blues Band Program, as our heart goes out to them. We understand. Here's how it works.
- We record your show for up to 3 one hour sets or 4 hours total for the event. Up to 16 tracks per song, plenty for just about every performing Rock/Blues band, which is what we specialize in recording
- We deliver a rough 2 Track mix for your review of the entire show within 5 days.
- You pick ten songs from your show that you would like professionally mixed to CD.
- We deliver a professionally mixed CD of those 10 songs to you within 5 days.
More Details:
- A $250.00 deposit is required to schedule the remote recording date.
- $250.00 is due upon arrival at the remote recording location.
- $500.00 is due upon approval of the final mixed 10 track CD. At that time a representative or two comes in from the band for a final listening session to approve the mixes.
We can master the CD for you. This would be an extra cost. We recommend using a dedicated mastering house for that. A separate set of ears/perspective is usually best during the mastering process.
What We Use
High quality remote recordings are achieved by knowledgeable people using the least amount of gear necessary to produce a great result. Our equipment selection is efficient. And it's just the right gear to produce great remote recordings.
Our equipment list includes: Microphones from Audio Technica, MXL, Senheiser, Audix among others. Our Phonic Helix MKII 24 Channel recording mixer uses firewire technology, which connects digitally, directly to a laptop then into Sonar multitrack recording software. This provides the most direct and cleanest path to the recording medium. We also use UPS power and a fully transformer isolated splitter with ground lifts.
Recognizing that the performance is the most important part of any recording, we use the smallest footprint possible. We seek to make the musicians as comfortable as possible during the recording process. Our client-centered service is custom designed to allow you to be free to do your thing. You can take comfort that we will capture the magic and spontaneity that only a live audience can provide. You will be able to create your music, your way. Our remote recording and mixing techniques will set your music apart from even many studio recordings. |

| How We Do It |
|
We put significant time and effort into deciding which mics to use, how the room is going to be set up, and where to we need to place mics.
Live recording is a team effort and the house sound crew is part of the team. Therefore, pre-production also includes contacting the venue staff ahead of time. Site visits and pre-production conversations can be arranged.
Information exchange between DGE, the artist, and the venue staff can be critical to ensure no significant issues occur during the show.
The idea is that all the crews are working together to accomplish a mutual goal: to make YOU sound great. And to do this without disturbing the groove the musicians have going on stage.
